The biggest problem people have is that they think they shouldn't have problems.

If you're looking to live a fulfilling life, you need to grow and evolve. The life you desire requires a different version of you, a GREATER version of you. And to get there you will have to face challenges. It won't always be easy, but the strength you gain from stepping into the unknown is irreplaceable.

So how do we constructively face challenges?

We focus on our emotional state. We focus on our mental state. We build our inner world up so we have the courage to face obstacles as they arise. We shift our perspective from "this is a problem" to "this is an opportunity".

So think to yourself today: where in my life am I being challenged to uplevel and what can I do to overcome that obstacle?

Be courageous, be messy, and be brave with it.

Finishing up my first successful week of 2022. The post-holiday crash hit me hard this year.

Going into the new year, every aspect of my life was good but nothing was exceptional. And with everyone else working overtime to get a head start on their goals, I felt stuck and stagnant. I couldn’t make progress in the way I was hoping and it really got the best of me for a bit.

I’m starting to learn that “boring” actually means healthy and you’re allowed to take time to appreciate the stillness life brings you.

Relax. Don’t forget to enjoy life a bit. 😜

Let’s talk gratitudes.

Years ago when I was living in DC, I was headed in another downward spiral of my own creation. I’d been on and off medication and nothing was sticking, so I began searching for alternative ways to bring my mental state up. I’m not totally sure how, but I stumbled upon this concept of practicing gratitudes. I figured at this point “what do I have to lose?” and gave it a shot.

On day one, I could only come up with one thing I was grateful for: the fact that I wasn’t homeless. I wrote it down quickly in my journal and went on with my day.

As the days went on, I noticed I was getting more creative with the exercise:

• I’m grateful for the food in my fridge
• I’m grateful to actually have a job
• I’m grateful to even be alive

I’m a sucker for fast results and after a short week of this, my mental state had immensely shifted. I was happier, open, and lighter overall. Nothing about my daily routine changed except the fact that I spent 30 seconds every morning writing down gratitudes.

As human beings, our fulfillment comes from growth and expansion. But if we’re constantly chasing the next “thing”, we’ll never truly be happy.

Sometimes we’re so caught up in what we don’t have that we forget the version of ourselves that would’ve KILLED to be where we’re at today. Give yourself credit and practice falling in love with your current reality. Presence is the greatest gift and gratitude is a quick way to get there.

The last day of 2021…what the fuck.

Biggest lesson I learned?

Life keeps moving whether you want it to or not. Good things happen in the midst of bad things. And it’s all about perspective. How you decide to show up for your life. No one is going to do it for you and you’ll never be 100% ready. But holding your breath and diving in anyways is where the magic happens. Showing up when you really don’t want to. Picking yourself up and saying “enough”. Telling your anxiety and depression to stfu. Removing people who don’t believe in you or see your value. Feeling the fear and doing it anyways.

You have way more say in your life than you think you do. You are not your thoughts or emotions. You are whatever you want to be and the only person you need to convince is yourself.

Cheers to 2021 for teaching me self-worth, courage, perseverance and resilience. 🥂

Your life is what you believe, and the most powerful belief is your identity.

In order to propel yourself forward and create major momentum towards your goals, you need to take serious inventory on your mind and mental health. You need to create an identity that you believe is worthy of your dreams. If you're dreaming it, it's inside of you to become. That's your passion and who you're meant to be.

Self-worth and confidence is a skill to be developed, no one is just born with it. We get what we tolerate, this is how people get stuck in cycles and loops. If you continually tolerate a certain level of satisfaction, you will always be at that level until you decide you deserve more. Read that again.

Developing my self-worth has been one of the biggest obstacles and was the thing that held me back from really going after what I wanted in my life. Link in my bio for my top tips in continually building your self-worth.

I used to hate routines. Absolutely despised them.

I used to hate routines. Absolutely despised them. I felt like they were constricting and I got bored easily. This was during a time in my life where I only knew chaos. When life became too robotic, I got anxious and usually booked a plane ticket to counteract the discomfort. Spontaneity not only kept my life exciting, but it also kept me from seeing deeper issues I wasn’t ready to face.

But lack of routine means lack of structure. So when my world came crumbling, which it did quite often, I was a sinking ship. This was me two years ago.

When I woke up this morning for my 7am workout, no part of my body wanted to go. I tossed and turned until the absolute last second. The thought that finally got me out of bed was: this is when going matters the most.

Something I didn't realize back then was that your habits prime you for future situations. The more headstrong you are when waters are calm, the more prepared you are when it begins to get rocky. Before, I was barely keeping my head above water, so of course I started drowning when life got rough. You don't need structure when it's easy, you need it when it's hard. When you practice structure daily, it becomes habit and automatic regardless of external circumstances.

I’m about to say something that will really test the way you think..

Self-love might not be your answer.

Stick with me on this.

In order to live a beautiful, fulfilling, ever-evolving and expansive life, you need to be happy inside yourself. But what does that FEEL like? Seriously. Tell me what it feels like in your body.

Have you ever been nice to someone just to be nice? Maybe the bitter barista, an angry customer on the phone, or the homeless man on the street. Have you ever loved without expecting anything in return? What did that feel like for you? How did you move through the rest of your day in that state? What were you able to accomplish?

In contrast, have you ever felt so uneasy that no amount of bubble baths, journal prompts, or meditation minutes could shake it? Do you ever sit around driving yourself crazy with what the hell you should be doing with your life? How much harder does life feel in that state? What do you struggle to get done?

Self-love as a concept can be beautiful, and it is important as we do not want to rely on external circumstance to make us happy. But self-love really is just feeling love in your body.

So now the question becomes: how do we actually create that?

The next time you’re feeling unmotivated, uninspired, down, or alone…I challenge you to go help someone create their dreams. Check up on your friends. LOVE ON OTHERS. Create that feeling of love in your body. Then see how your life begins to transform.

Giving love creates love for you. And the ultimate form of love is when you give it the person who doesn’t “deserve” it. Stop withholding your love.

The “bad” things that always happen to you, the missed opportunities, the “shitty” people around you. It’s not your destiny, it’s your choice and your perspective.

The way you see the world is conditioned. It was taught to you. Two people can experience the same event and have completely separate interpretations.

Great experiences, opportunities and people already exist all around you. You move through them everyday. It’s your decision whether or not you want to see them for what they are.

We are all capable of creating the life we dream of.

I dare you to entertain that idea.

The tiny ways we show up every single day.

Those small incremental changes we make.

It’s not about how far we are from our goal or this image of perfection, it’s looking back on the progress we’ve made and who we have become up until this point.

Celebrate where you are today. Even if it doesn’t feel that way, you are doing the work and it’s leading you somewhere beautiful.

HOW TO RE-PROGRAM NEGATIVE THOUGHT PATTERNS When

HOW TO RE-PROGRAM NEGATIVE THOUGHT PATTERNS

When you’re stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, depressed, etc., your ego has more space to move. With this extra space, you begin to create stories in your head that look something like this:

“I’m a failure I can’t handle my responsibilities.”
“What the hell am I even doing with my life?”
“Why doesn’t anyone care about me?”

These stories can spiral and overlap, sometimes causing a breakdown or stagnancy.

When you feel the stories creeping in, try this:

1. Catch yourself. Recognize you’re in a pattern.

2. State what’s happening. “I’m feeling _____________ and my ego is creating stories to keep me safe.” (also take mental notes of contributing factors - lack of sleep, lack of food, alcohol, etc.)

3. Become present. Pick a color and start scanning the room for objects of that color. Feel your body on the surface beneath you. Pick up and examine an object on your desk. Listen and identify all the noises around you.

4. Reassure yourself. “I am safe. This room is safe. My body is safe. My body is a safe space to be.”

5. Last but not least shift the story. Switch:

“I’m a failure I can’t handle my responsibilities.” to “I am worthy, capable and have plenty of time to get everything done”

“What the hell am I even doing with my life?” to “I am exactly where I’m meant to be right now, doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing right now.”

“Why doesn’t anyone care about me?” to “I am loved by so many and I have the tools to nurture the deep parts of myself that desire healing.”
